The design purpose was to create a house of prayer for Orthodox community members in order to experience worship, study, and fellowship. The synagogue will serve approximately 300 families of the Bay Harbor, Bal Harbor, Surfside, and Indian Creek communities. Besides the 370 seats in the sanctuary, the synagogue has a social hall for 300 people. In terms of image and architectural expression, it is a merge of the practical requirements of the program and a design that envisions its symbolic purpose and its Jewish identity within an Urban Floridian Tropical context.
