This project, an existing Mediterranean Residence, was completely redesigned using the harmony by contrast concept by keeping the exterior image of the old residence as historical and treating the new connecting volume with a contemporary design and materials to express the difference in the time of construction. The new materials used are Corten steel, curtain wall, and portions of stucco in contrast with the pure stucco and clay barrel tile of the old house.
The house faces the Intracoastal and has a boat dock cut into the site to avoid the boat traffic of the Intracoastal.
Entertaining was an important factor in the design. The residence opens to the rear garden with a magnificent view, a large swimming pool, a whirlpool, and the BBQ Pavilion.
